Nemy's Story
Be your own kind of beautiful
In Egypt, a woman is socially expected to look down, have a low voice and never be loud. The ideal beauty expectations range from: fair skin, pink cheeks, slender build, have a symmetrical face, and the list just seems to be never ending. My name is Nermine Beshay, Owner and Operator of Nemy Beauty since 2014. As an Egyptian woman, I sit on the opposite end of the ‘ideal Egyptian woman’.
Beauty to me is established on the inside and should radiate from the inside out. It is more than just your physical appearance. It is self-acceptance, loving who you are, and giving yourself permission to become the best version of YOU!
MY MISSION

I’ve learnt that sometimes ‘getting into beauty’ can be a result of a traumatic experience.
As a child I was bullied and discriminated because I looked different from my beautiful fair skinned mother and sisters.
I remember my first time being booked into the beauty salon. It was my birthday, and I couldn’t wait for the beautician to make me look like my beautiful mother and sisters! My excitement quickly dwindled down as I quickly realised that beauty WAS pain! As I sat in the chair crying over the painful threading I was receiving, the beautician looked at me pathetically – wondering when I would stop so he could move onto his next customer.
That day, I made a promise to myself that I would invest time in me. I would learn the skills needed to never feel the way that beautician made me feel. I would learn how to carry out my own beauty regime in a way that was uniquely suitable to me, to my features, to who I am. And with this promise I extended it out to all my clients.
